Relations between Tehran and Islamabad nosedived following the former's missile strikes inside Pakistan followed by the latter's counterattack on Iranian soil.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian held a telephonic conversation for the first time since the two countries carried out military precision strikes inside each other's territories.
"Foreign Minister Jilani expressed Pakistan's readiness to work with Iran on all issues based on spirit of mutual trust and cooperation. He underscored the need for closer cooperation on security issues," a statement from Pakistan's Foreign Ministry read.
The development came hours after Iran urged Pakistan not to escalate the situation between the two countries while condemning Islamabad's action "on non-Iranian villagers on the border of the two countries."
"At the same time, the Islamic Republic of Iran adheres to the policy of good neighborliness and brotherhood between the two nations and the two governments of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan. It does not allow enemies to strain the amicable and brotherly relations of Tehran and Islamabad," the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.
The cooling down of tensions between Iran and Pakistan is in line with the views of geopolitical pundits who have been tracking their stand-off in Asia.
Previously, Dr. Ashok K. Behuria, a senior fellow at the New Delhi-based think tank, Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), predicted that relations between the two sovereign states will be back to normal soon.
"The current tensions between the two neighboring nations will wither away, and the balance of power will be restored very soon," Behuria told Sputnik India on Thursday.
