Iran criticized the latest strikes by the United States and Britain on Yemen, stating they aimed to "escalate tensions and crises" in the region.

"With such attacks, America and Britain seek to escalate tensions and crises in the region, and expand the scope of war and instability," Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said.

American and British forces conducted new airstrikes on Saturday, targeting 18 Houthi sites in Yemen. These strikes were launched in retaliation for recent attacks by the Iran-backed group on shipping in the Red Sea.
Kanani emphasized, "Certainly, this kind of arbitrary and aggressive military operation, aside from aggravating insecurity and instability in the region, will not achieve anything for these aggressor countries."
He also condemned the United States and Britain for their inaction regarding Israel's campaign in Gaza, stating they failed to "take immediate and effective action."
The Houthis assert that their attacks on shipping in the Red Sea are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
