With imports of tropical fruits being a priority for Russia, the Eurasian nation is now planning to export more such items from India.

Russia's state-run Rosselkhoznadzor has expressed its desire to import more tropical fruits from India.
"On May 23, Advisor to the Head of the Service Vasily Lavrovsky visited the Indian Mango Festival, organized by the Indian Embassy in Russia. There are no phytosanitary restrictions on the import of fruits from the republic; no quarantine organisms were detected in Indian fruits this year, which creates favorable prospects for the development of exports," the organization said in a statement.
The development comes amid surging cooperation between New Delhi and Moscow to ensure food security in Russia.
Earlier this year, shipments of fresh bananas from India reached the Russian market before the South Asian nation began sending consignments of grapes to the world's largest country by land area.
Against this backdrop, Rosselkhoznadzor hoped to see India's tropical fruits taste a similar kind of success in the Russian market.
"Lavrovsky expressed the hope that tropical fruits will also be able to occupy a significant share in imports of products from India," the statement added.
