Indian Army Guns Down Six in Jammu and Kashmir

The encounter started on Saturday in two villages in the Kulgam district.

Six men have been killed by Indian security forces on Sunday in two encounters in a pair of villages in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials have said.
The first encounter in the district started on Saturday in Modergam village while the second was in Frisal Chinnigam village.
Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police R.R. Swain confirmed the news, describing the men as "terrorists".
“This is undoubtedly a significant milestone for the security forces. These successes are crucial in fortifying the security environment. The people are coming together to end terrorism, and the operations are gaining momentum. The current operation is still ongoing and has not yet concluded,” he stated.
Two Indian soldiers were also killed in the operation. The soldiers have been identified as Lance Nayik Pradeep Kumar (an elite para-commando) and Pravin Janjal Prabhaker of the Rashtriya Rifles unit.
Earlier in June, Indian security forces gunned down three men in Gandoh, Bhaderwah sector of Doda district in the Union Territory.
