The assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was a very unfortunate incident that violated all norms of international relations. This trend is not new, Brigadier Dr. Tughral Yamin(R), a foreign affairs analyst, professor, former dean, policy expert told Sputnik India.

"The CIA eliminated Osama bin Laden on Pakistani soil without informing the Pakistani authorities in 2011. The Israelis have taken the strategy of political assassination to the next level, having killed many high profile Iranians, generals, and nuclear scientists in areas beyond their jurisdiction," Yamin told Sputnik India.

He further expressed that these indiscriminate attacks against foreign leaders has the potential for reciprocation responses. Hamas and Iran will most likely seek revenge for Haniyeh's killing. Only time will tell what they will adopt to recover from this setback.

The CIA-Mossad Nexus

However, the CIA and Mossad have a longstanding history of infringing upon the sovereignty of other nations to eliminate adversaries, as seen in operations against Osama Bin Laden in Islamabad, Qasim Suleimani in Iraq, and Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh. This reveals a strategic alliance between the Mossad and CIA, driven by their shared interests.

"The CIA-Mossad collaboration in executing targeted killings abroad raises concerns about sovereignty violations and international law. These actions challenge norms of non-interference and will further complicate the situation in Middle East," Aimen Jamil, a pundit of Iranian affairs & a correspondent on Middle East at Global Defense Insight, told Sputnik News.

She further added that Strategic attacks orchestrated by CIA and Mossad will provoke the already escalated conflict and provoke retaliations in the region.

Ismail Haniyeh's Death: A Catalyst for Further Conflict in the Middle East

The attack on Haniyeh would compel Iran into direct conflict, thereby prolonging instability in the Middle East, Syed Fraz Naqvi, research officer and the Head of Iran Programme at Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad told Sputnik India.

"The recent attack on Tehran took the life of Ismail Haniyeh not only highlights Israel's unwillingness to pursue peace but also raises questions about the implications of future Iran negotiations with West. As we know that PM Netanyahu appears disinterested in ending the war, as doing so would jeopardize his political career," a pundit underscored.

He further unveiled that the Iranian security, however, is advancing rapidly, particularly its intelligence capabilities. Nevertheless, there are anti-Iranian and anti-Khomeini elements within the country acting as a fifth column for the U.S. and Israel, facilitating such activities or attacks.
