Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday held discussions on interbank & credit cooperation, and the expansion of payment and settlement infrastructure.
Currently, trade between India and Russia is conducted primarily in national currencies - the Rouble from the Russian side and INR from the Indian government and businesses.
Besides, the two sides engaged in negotiations on an intergovernmental agreement on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments.
The meeting held in New Delhi ahead of President Vladimir Putin's visit to India was also attended by Governor of the Central Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.
Manturov also called on India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval during his visit to Delhi.
