Former Himachal Pradesh State Chief and BJP politician Prem Kumar Dhumal has broken his silence on the party's defeat in the recent state elections.
Dhumal, possibly the BJP's tallest name in the northern hill state is the father of Federal Minister Anurag Thakur, who is being blamed for the party's loss in Himachal Pradesh.
Notably, after the results of the polls were announced last week which gave the Congress a clear majority, Thakur was trolled on social media as BJP workers held him responsible for the party's poor performance in the state.
Some even blamed him for the rebellion in the state unit as many BJP members fought against official party candidates after they were denied tickets by the central leadership.

How Foreign Media Reacted to BJP's Record Victory in Gujarat
Out of the 68 seats the BJP contested, it had rebels fighting in at least 21 constituencies. As per stats released by the Election Commission, BJP lost a dozen seats due to these rebels.
The BJP also lost all five seats in Thakur's parliamentary constituency Hamirpur, widely regarded as his father Dhumal and his bastion.
But Dhumal defended his son, saying "he worked day in, day out."
"We are shattered by the party's loss in Hamirpur. The party has taken the loss very seriously. The rebels were unhappy because of how tickets were given. The party is looking at how tickets were distributed," Dhumal added.
Dhumal then appeared to take a swipe at the outgoing State Chief, Jairam Thakur who was ousted from power by the Congress' Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

"I kept watching and listening to what happened in the past five years silently," he commented, seemingly targeting Jairam Thakur. "We hope that the mistakes made are not repeated. We have nurtured Hamirpur with our blood and sweat."
