Imran Khan has accused the US of plotting the downfall of his government in a conspiracy hatched with the current Shehbaz Sharif-led government.
Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Friday blasted ousted premier Imran Khan for "seeking help" from the United States after previously accusing the Joe Biden administration of conspiring against his government which fell in April 2022.
"His political journey started with a cypher — in which he had accused the US of conspiring against the PTI government," Asif said in a press conference in Islamabad. "And today, Shireen Mazari has written a letter to the US for him […] the country he once accused of conspiracy … he is now seeking help from them."
Shireen Mazari is a senior politician of Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and also served as the Federal Minister for Human Rights in his erstwhile government.
The minister claimed that the cricketer-turned-politician's dramatic utterances, including his accusations on the US and his subsequent soft posture toward Washington, summed up his "lies" since the April 2022 vote of no-confidence.
"He was accusing the US of conspiring against him, even taking names, but now he is once again flirting with the American government through lobbyists and approaching them for some sort of aid and help," Asif elaborated.

Asif then predicted that Khan's "cult" would soon disappear as his speeches and statements appeared to have no logic.
"His utterances are completely irrational … perhaps his followers do believe him but most people have lost track of whatever he says," the senior member of Sharif's cabinet concluded.

What Imran Khan Says About His Ouster

Asif's remarks were about Khan's claim that the conspiracy to oust him from power was planned by ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif in connivance with then Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Washington.
"My question for the Biden Administration: By indulging in a regime change conspiracy to remove a democratically elected PM of a country of over 220 million people to bring in a puppet PM, do you think you have lessened or increased anti-American sentiment in Pakistan?" Khan said in May last year.
General Bajwa reacted to Khan's allegations vigorously, calling them "fake".
"You think that the armed forces would sit idly by if there were an external conspiracy in the country? A state of hysteria was created in the country on the pretext of a fake and false narrative," Bajwa had said in response to Khan.
