This is the second time that a plea for the eviction of Imran Khan as chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been filed in a court in the country.
A new petition, seeking the ouster of the former Pakistan Prime Minister as PTI chairman, has been registered in the Lahore High Court, local media reported on Tuesday.

In his plea, a Pakistani resident, Mohammad Junaid, stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified Khan and banned him from holding public office for five years on allegations of corruption, hence, the former prime minister should be removed as his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief.

The petitioner's reference to ECP's action against Khan was about the Toshakhana case.
Khan, who was Pakistan's premier from August 2018 to April 2022, was accused of swindling over 50 items from the Toshakhana by the members of the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Following an investigation, the ECP ruled that Khan hid information about the gift items he received from foreign dignitaries.
Khan, a cricketer-turned-politician, subsequently, was disqualified from National Assembly membership, forcing him to vacate his Mianwali seat.
The latest petition against Khan mentioned that the Supreme Court of Pakistan previously restrained then-Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif from leading the political party after his disqualification on charges of corruption in 2017.
The petitioner requested the LHC to issue a direction to the ECP to oust Khan from the chairmanship of the PTI before beginning nomination proceedings to elect a new party chief.
However, this isn't the first occasion such a petition has been filed against Pakistan's 1992 Cricket World Cup-winning skipper.
In November 2022, a similar plea was admitted in the LHC that was dismissed in March this year.
