The Product Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme announced by the federal government in April 2020 aims to make India a global electronics hub.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet on Wednesday approved a $2.06 billion Production Linked Incentive Scheme 2.0 for firms that are in the business of manufacturing products like laptops, tablets, servers, and all-in-one PCs.

From reduction in import duty to tax rebates, the government's subsidy, however, is linked to the number of units a company is manufacturing and selling.
Information Technology and Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed reporters about the decision after the cabinet meeting in New Delhi.
