On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the new Parliament building to 1.44 billion Indians. The new structure will seat 888 legislators in the lower house.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that holds the reins of federal power condemned Bihar's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party for lampooning the architecture of India's new Parliament building, inaugurated on Sunday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
RJD is a key member of the Janata Dal (United) led coalition government in Bihar and one of the opposition parties at the federal level.
Such a reaction, a BJP spokesperson said, would eventually prove to be the "final nail in the coffin of RJD's politics".
The RJD earlier compared the new Parliament to a coffin by posting these images side by side on Twitter and asking the general public to guess what the new structure stands for.

However, the tweet also sparked a barrage of criticism from many netizens, who found it highly offensive given the new Parliament building's inauguration day.
One of the netizens responded to the RJD in Hindi, saying the first picture -- the coffin -- is actually about the future of the RJD party itself, and the second photograph is of the future of India.
Some equated the shape with an ancient temple, located in Vidisha, in the Madhya Pradesh state in central India.
Meanwhile, prominent priests from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for according such a respect to their Adheenams sect, who consider Lord Shiva as the supreme being, and promoting Tamil culture.
