This is the second Daesh module busted in India after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested "highly radicalized" people from the Madhya Pradesh state last month.
The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Gujarat Police on Saturday nabbed four persons accused of running a module of the banned terrorist organization Daesh* in Porbandar.

According to the police, four persons were arrested, including three young men and a woman. The authorities found out they were planning to move their base to Afghanistan to get training from Daesh Khorasan fighters there.

It was established that the men were from the Jammu and Kashmir city of Srinagar, and the woman was from the Gujarat city of Surat. The criminals arrived in Porbandar to reserve a boat for moving to Afghanistan.

The police found jihadi literature, several flags of Daesh Khorasan and highly radicalized videos and audio recordings in the men's hideout in Porbandar.

The officials noted that the operation was still underway and more raids were likely to be conducted.

The existence of a criminal case was confirmed by Gujarat's Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay.

"It is a banned terrorist organization, Islamic State - Khorasan Province. Three terrorists affiliated with this organization were planning to leave Porbandar via the waterway," Sahay told reporters after the arrests.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi commended the ATS for their successful operation of busting the terror module.

"The operation was conducted in line with the Modi government's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. Such terror modules were detected and busted earlier. Such operations to crackdown on terror modules in the state will continue," he tweeted.
