Landslide is one of the most common disasters in the mountainous Southeast Asia region, killing hundreds, destroying properties, and cutting off communication links.
Heavy rain in the Hunthar area of India’s north-eastern state of Mizoram caused a massive landslide on National Highway-6, an official said on Friday.
There were no immediate reports of any casualties.
The highway holds significance since it connects the state with the rest of the country.
Efforts are underway to restore communication services and clear off the debris on the highway.
