In order to discuss the strategy for 2024 Parliamentary polls, a meeting was held at the residence of the prime minister last week.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appointed new chiefs in several states on Tuesday as part of its preparations for the Parliamentary elections and crucial state assembly polls in 2024.
According to official statements, Federal Minister G Kishan Reddy has been named as the president for the party’s unit in Telangana, replacing Bandi Sanjay Kumar, while Sunil Jakhar, who switched sides from Congress last year, has been appointed as the party unit’s chief in Punjab.
In Jharkhand, the party appointed the first state chief and current leader of opposition Babulal Marandi as the state unit chief whereas the daughter of former Andhra Pradesh state chief and founder of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) NT Rama Rao and ex-Federal Minister Daggubati Purandeswari was appointed state unit chief of Andhra Pradesh.

BJP Holds Late-Night Meeting Ahead of State Assembly and Parliamentary Polls
Apart from this, lawmaker Etela Rajender, who served as the first finance minister of Telangana, was appointed chairman of the BJP's state election management committee for the upcoming Telangana assembly polls. Notably, Rajender was previously a member of the Telangana-ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi till 2021, after which he joined the BJP.
Meanwhile, Kiran Kumar Reddy, the last state chief of the United Andhra Pradesh before the formation of the Telangana state, was appointed as a member of the party's national executive committee.
Notably, the party has called a meeting of all the state presidents, state general secretaries, and state in charge on July 7. The meeting will be presided over by the party’s national President JP Nadda and national General Secretary BL Santosh.
Several media reports quoting sources have also said that a cabinet reshuffle is also likely to happen in the days to come.
