At least eight people have lost their lives throughout Telangana as the state has been battered by a relentless, heavy downpour since the beginning of the week, media reports said on Friday.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a red alert from 25-27 July, while on Thursday the weather department issued an orange alert warning in parts of the state till 29 July.An orange alert is in place for the Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts.Meanwhile, the state department, the Army helicopters and five NDRF teams are conducting rescue missions to save people and tourists trapped in isolated areas due to the massive downpour.On Thursday, two Army helicopters rescued six people stuck on an earth-digging machine in a flood-stricken village in the Bhupalpally district. Another 600 people trapped because of the Bhupalapalli floods, in the village of Moranchapalli have been transferred to safer places.Meanwhile, many people have taken to social media to share how roads and streets are overflowing with flood water.As per weather department IMD data, till Thursday (July 27), the state’s cumulative southwest monsoon rainfall figures stood at an excess of 61 percent, with July alone recording a quantity of 129 percent precipitation.

According to Telangana state government data, 10,696 people from 108 villages were rescued and moved to safer places until Thursday evening thanks to the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Army choppers.
At least eight people have lost their lives throughout Telangana as the state has been battered by a relentless, heavy downpour since the beginning of the week, media reports said on Friday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a red alert from 25-27 July, while on Thursday the weather department issued an orange alert warning in parts of the state till 29 July.
An orange alert is in place for the Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Sangareddy,
Medak, Kamareddy, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts.
The Laxmidevipetta area in Mulugu district recorded 649.8 mm of rainfall as of 8am Thursday, the highest ever 24-hour rainfall recorded in the state since 2004.
