Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has reportedly urged his attorneys to make wholesome efforts for his eviction from Punjab province-located Attock prison. Khan, chairman of the country's main opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was imprisoned last weekend, and subsequently disqualified for five years on Wednesday.Khan's plea to his lawyers came after the ex-Pakistan Prime Minister felt uncomfortable in his cell with a large number of flies, mosquitos, and other insects making his life miserable there.The report mentions that while flies are giving a hard time to the former Cricket World Cup-winning captain during day time, mosquitos are troubling him after sunset.A day earlier, Khan's lawyer Naeem Haider Panjotha met him in jail and subsequently, criticized the conditions there, alleging that the opposition leader was given sub-standard facilities inside the Attock prison.Why Was Imran Khan Arrested?Khan was arrested by law enforcers from his residence in Lahore city after an anti-graft court convicted him in the Toshakhana (state gift repository) case.The Election Commission of Pakistan was the petitioner in the Toshakhana case against Khan.The poll watchdog alleged that he abused his official position as the occupant of the Islamic nation's top constitutional post from 2018 to 2022 to pocket as many as 72 gift items from the state gift repository through fraudulent means, thus benefiting from their proceeds.According to estimates, Khan received gifts worth $635,000 during his tenure as Pakistan's premier.The prominent politician who has denied wrongdoing, has accused the government of hatching a conspiracy against him and his party, insisting that a ban on the PTI was to follow soon.He has appealed against the verdict in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), with the first hearing in the matter scheduled for later this week.
