The lead vocalist of the Ukrainian band ‘Shanti People’ Uma Shanti has gone too far in her performance in India, trying to get attention probably — but locals did not appreciate her stunt with the national flag.
Uma Shanti, a Ukrainian singer, has been booked for disrespecting the national Flag of India during her performance at a popular club in the city of Pune in India's Maharashtra state.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night, the eve of India's Independence Day.
In the clip, Shanti can be seen dancing on the stage and waving India's national flags before tossing them into the enthralled audience.
A video capturing the episode has triggered an uproar and outrage on social media, sparking a slew of reactions from the public.
Furious social media users took to the comment section of the video, calling for a boycott of the singer and demanding strict action against her.
According to the police, a case has been filed by Havaldar Tanaji Deshmukh against the singer at the Mundhwa Police Station.

Netizens React to Shameless Stunt With Tiranga

"Just shame on Ukrainian singer Uma Shanti. She has the audacity to insult the Indian flag that too on Independence Day. Doesn't matter what image of Russia in the world, it has always honored our national sentiments. No wonder we have a soft corner for Russia," one user commented.
"You can't expect Western people who make underwear of their own national flag to be respectful towards others. By the way, what the heck is she doing in India she must be in frontline," another said.
"Our National Flag is dear to entire Indians and disrespecting it is a serious matter and should be dealt with severe punishment," replied the third.
"The performer has no sense of how to handle our National flag. It’s not a prop!! Shameless people with no basic sense," another user commented.
