After a three-day BRICS summit in South Africa and a maiden visit to Greece, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, returned to India and headed straight to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Karnataka state's Bengaluru to greet the scientists after the success of Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission.
While addressing the gathering at the ISRO centre, PM Modi said though he was on a trip when Chandrayaan-3 landed on the moon, his mind was completely with the scientists.
For the prime minister, when the Chandrayaan-3 touchdown on the Moon, it was an 'unforgettable' moment and said, "...I can see before my eyes every second of that day of August 23...".
PM Modi turned emotional as he recalled the final 15 challenging minutes of the Chandrayaan-3.
"I salute your dedication. I salute your patience. I salute your hard work. I salute your inspiration," he said.

PM Modi has declared that the 23rd of August will henceforth be celebrated as National Space Day to commemorate the remarkable achievement of the Chandrayaan-3's successful touchdown on the Moon.
He also announced that the touchdown spot of the Chandrayaan-3 lander - Vikram on the lunar surface would from now onwards be known as the 'Shivshakti'.
The spot where Chandrayaan-2 left its imprint will be known as 'Tiranga' (Tricolour), he added.
Filled with overwhelming joy and boundless happiness, Prime Minister Modi enthusiastically declared that this remarkable achievement will serve as a beacon of inspiration for every endeavor undertaken by India. Furthermore, it will serve as a powerful reminder that no failure is ever truly definitive.
PM Modi added that the Chandrayaan mission is not only India's success but that of humanity.
"Today, the entire world is witnessing and accepting the strength of India's scientific spirit, our technology, and our scientific temperament", he said.
PM Modi especially greeted India's women scientists and said that they have played a big role in the success of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission.
"Today, the name of Chandrayaan is resonating among children of India. Every child is seeing his or her future in the scientists," he added.
The ISRO successfully launched the Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission on July 14, which aimed to deploy a cutting-edge rover - Pragyan, an indigenously developed lander - Vikram, and a propulsion module on the Moon's surface.
Post-landing, the six-wheeled rover rolled out to conduct experiments on the Moon's surface for the next 14 days.
ISRO chairman S. Somanath gave an overview of the Chandrayaan 3 modules through its prototype model and explained how they achieved success.
Referring to the boost to indigenous productions due to Chandrayaan 3's success, PM Modi said that Indian scientists have taken the Make In India initiative to the Moon.
