Despite hopes, the weapons supplied to Kiev by the West have not turned the tide of the Ukrainian counter-offensive and have so far been seen as little more than an ideal trophy for the Russian armed forces.
Kiev lost "a lot of equipment" near the villages of Rabotino and Verbovoe in the direction of Zaporozhye, a US news agency reported, quoting an anonymous Ukrainian fighter.

The losses include German Marders and American Strykers, the armoured vehicles that proved inadequate against the "saturation of anti-tank mines", and Russian forces described by an anonymous media source as "colossal".

In early June, the much-anticipated Ukrainian counter-offensive commenced. Despite initial doubts from even the most assertive Western politicians, it was quickly labeled as a failure due to the significant number of casualties and lack of substantial progress.
A few months later, Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted that the Ukrainian counter-offensive had failed. According to the latest figures, Kiev has lost over 71,000 troops and is reportedly in desperate need of new recruits.
