Earlier this week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sparked a diplomatic row after alleging the involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen, in Surrey, British Columbia, on 18 June.
A US diplomat reportedly confirmed that the Five Eyes Partners (a coalition of the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada) had shared intelligence, prompting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to make offensive accusations against India.

The report of the Five Eyes Alliance partners is allegedly based on surveillance and signals intelligence (SIGINT).

Canadian news channel CTV, quoting US Ambassador to Canada David Cohen, reported that the Five Eyes network alliance had informed Trudeau's public allegation of a 'possible' link between the Indian government and the murder of a Canadian citizen.
This marks the first acknowledgment by a US government official regarding the sharing of intelligence with Canada by Five Eyes partners, even though numerous unofficial reports have made similar claims.
Following Trudeau's accusation, India has categorically rejected his allegations, calling them "absurd" and "motivated".
They also expelled a senior Canadian diplomat in a tit-for-tat move following Ottawa's expulsion of an Indian official over the case.
