'Eid Mubarak': Indian PM and President Greet Muslims on Prophet Muhammad's Birthday

The festival marks the day on which the Islamic prophet Muhammad is believed to have been born. It is usually commemorated on the 12th day of Rabi' al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar.
India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President Droupadi Murmu led the nation on Thursday in greeting everyone on the occasion of Muslim festival of Eid-e-Milad an-Nabi, the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi said he hoped that the feelings of brotherhood and kindness would grow among his countrymen.

"Greetings on Milad an-Nabi. May the spirit of brotherhood and kindness be furthered in our society. May everyone be happy and healthy. Eid Mubarak!"

President Murmu, in a message posted in Hindi and Urdu, called on her countrymen to come together and work toward the welfare of humanity.
"On the auspicious day of Eid an-Nabi, I congratulate all countrymen, especially Muslim brothers and sisters. On the occasion of the Prophet Muhammad's birth, we must all take a vow to work toward the welfare of humanity with communal harmony and brotherhood," the translation of the President's tweet read.

How is Eid-e-Milad an-Nabi Celebrated?

Generally, on this special day, Muslims dress up in new clothes, offer prayers and wish all friends and relations a good life, success, and welfare.
People congregate in mosques or shrines as they start their day with a morning prayer. Some of them also take part in religious processions on this day.
In India, most people send greetings to their Muslim friends or colleagues saying 'Eid Mubarak!'.
