The Indian TV news anchor claimed that she was wearing her late grandmother’s heirloom green and red saree in her memory.
An Indian TV news anchor found herself in the midst of a social media uproar after being accused of wearing a Palestinian flag color saree by her Israeli guest during a live broadcast.
The Palestinian flag is distinguished by its striking combination of black, white, and green stripes and a red triangle.
Dhoundial, on the other hand, was wearing a silk saree with green and red colors with a black blouse.
The video clip of the live broadcast has gone viral in which the executive editor of Mirror Now, Shreya Dhoundial, can be seen taken aback when the speaker, identified as Israeli Intel Special Forces member Frederic Landau, accused her of purposely wearing the Palestinian flag color in its support.
Landau was invited to the show to talk about the Israel-Hamas conflict and the Gaza hospital attack.
“And I can see the colors that you are wearing this evening and that’s why I am purposely wearing blue and white. Because with all due respect, the green, the red, and the black which you are purposely wearing this evening, blue and white will always prevail,” Landau said.
Dhoundiyal replied to his ‘allegation’ and told him not to divide colors on the basis of religion.
She also made her stance clear that this saree does not signify any support to any side. And it is her grandmother’s saree.
“If she was alive, she would have been 105 years old today. She didn’t know what the Israel – Hamas conflict was. And the saree nowhere signify any support for any side”.
However, Landau snapped at her and asked her to "save it for a different occasion."

Dhoundial gave a befitting reply and said, “No Frederic, I will not let you choose what I wear. And I will not let you choose what I say.”

Reacting to the incident, Dhoundial took to social media and said, "for once I was at a loss of words."
The incident has left the internet divided as a section of the netizens came out in support of Dhoundiyal and lauded her for handling the situation gracefully.
The other section of the internet blamed her for doing it intentionally, and it was not a coincidence.
