The Indian Prime Minister introduced a ₹380 crore, or $45 million, seed capital support scheme for more than one lakh members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
Indian Prime Minister inaugurated the second iteration of the mega food event "World Food India 2023" on Friday at Bharat Mandapam New Delhi.
The Indian Union Minister, Piyush Goyal attended the event along with other dignitaries, industry professionals, farmers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders and declared that the world now believes in India and that we are reaching unprecedented levels of growth at the Mega Event.

Speaking at the event, the Indian Prime Minister expressed concerns about the importance of food security in the twenty-first century and the significance of initiatives including World Food India 2023. Modi also declared that the fusion of food and technology will accelerate the emergence of a new economy and usher in a new era.

“In India, the processed food industry is now considered a burgeoning industry. This industry has received an FDI of Rs 50,000 crore i.e. $6 Billion during the past nine years as a result of the pro-farmer and pro-industry policies of the Indian government”, said Modi.

Meanwhile, the Indian Prime Minister launched a seed capital assistance programme of ₹380 crore i.e. $45 Million for over 1 lakh Self Help Group (SHG) members.

Modi also discussed the increasing number of women working in the food processing business, pointing out that over 90 million of them are involved in self-help groups. In addition, the Prime Minister launched "Food Street" in conjunction with World Food India 2023 — a one-of-a-kind gastronomic event with over 200 chefs participating and presenting traditional Indian cuisine, along with regional cuisines and royal culinary history.
More than 80 countries are expected to attend the event, including CEOs of well-known food processing businesses. In addition, there will be a Reverse Buyer Seller Meet with more than 1200 international buyers from over 80 nations.
