Relations between India and Canada have been in crisis recently. However, as the Union Minister Piyush Goyal noted, it's Canada's economy that suffers most from it.
India's Rajya Sabha and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal expressed confidence in India's economy in light of the suspension of free-trade talks with Canada, stating that it would be Canada's economy that would face the consequences.
Goyal emphasized that India, with its vast market and abundant economic opportunities, would not be adversely affected by this development.

"The politicians of Canada have some baseless misconceptions. Their interests will be adversely affected; it would not cost India anything. We have a huge market, we have opportunities. Canada and Canada's economy will bear the brunt of this decision," the minister said.

Earlier, the Canadian government has informed India of a temporary halt in negotiations for a comprehensive trade agreement between the two countries, which have been ongoing since 2022.
