With India aiming to become a major power in the Indo-Pacific, the South Asian nation is upping its defense ties in Africa, and New Delhi's latest effort in this regard was in Mauritius.
The Indian Navy said on Friday it trained the Mauritius Police Force in various maritime operations, including asymmetric warfare, and underwater salvage missions.

India's blue water force added that 50 personnel of Mauritius Police underwent three weeks of intense training under its supervision, in which special forces commandos were also involved.
"Three weeks of intense training for 50 personnel of Mauritius Police Force in asymmetric warfare, maritime interdiction ops & underwater salvage was undertaken," the Indian Navy said in a post on X, previously known as Twitter.
This isn't the first time the Indian Navy has been involved in training the personnel of the Mauritius Police Force in recent weeks.

Last month, a similar training program was conducted for the East African nation's national law enforcement agency.
