Iran Castigates US as Ultimate Party Responsible For Destabilizing Middle East

The US, Israel's closest ally, and Shia-majority Iran have traded blame with one another for the volatility in the Middle East. Once again, the two arch enemies are taking potshots at each other.
Iran on Wednesday hit back at the US after American National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan described Iran as the "ultimate party responsible" for the current crisis in the region.
Sullivan's comments came in the wake of the Yemeni Army carrying out an attack against two Israeli ships in the Red Sea on Monday.
Yemen, where Tehran holds significant influence through its close association with the Houthis, has targeted Israeli-origin/bound ships in recent weeks amid Tel Aviv's ongoing military operation in Gaza.
However, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani rejected Sullivan's statement, declaring it was the United States that was the principal destabilizer in the Middle East as it was providing unconditional support to Israel, including sending bombs and lethal weapons.

"Contrary to the claims of the US government officials, the military presence of that country in the region's lands and waters has never been a source of security, and the US government, with its illegal plots and interventions, has pursued the security and illegitimate interests of the Zionist regime at the cost of destabilizing regional countries and violating the rights of the Palestinian people," Kanaani told reporters in Tehran.
After the Palestinian military movement Hamas killed over 1200 people and took over 240 hostages during their brutal attack on Israel on October 7, the Jewish state declared a state of war.
