On 13 December, two men burst into the chamber during a parliament meeting, shouting slogans and spraying yellow smoke from smoke bombs.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called Wednesday's incident when activists entered the parliament chamber with smoke bombs serious.

“The seriousness of this incident cannot be downplayed. The Speaker of Parliament is taking the necessary steps," the PM said in an interview with the Dainik Jagran newspaper. "Investigators are conducting an investigation. It is important to identify the elements behind this and find out their goals. There can be no dispute about this, a detailed investigation into what happened is necessary.”

The suspects were detained and no one was injured as a result of the incident. In parallel to the events inside parliament, two more men also sprayed yellow smoke near its walls. Six people were detained as part of the case.
The incident has reportedly become the subject of intense controversy, as it occurred on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 attack on Parliament in which terrorists shot and killed nine people and injured 22 others.
