Putin Underlines Nuclear Triad's Increased Role Amid NATO Aggression

The role of nuclear weapons has grown, Vladimir Putin said during Tuesday's extended meet with the Russian military leadership, revealing how Russia has modernised its nuclear triad in the past year.
The Russian defense industry as a whole responds faster and more accurately to the needs of those who are fighting on the battlefield and the Russian Design Bureau has made a real breakthrough, Russian leader Vladimir Putin told the extended meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Defense on 19 December.
Here are the key points made by the Russian president:
2023 was a stressful year for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, but everyone solved their tasks professionally and courageously;
Aggressive nature of NATO no longer hidden, claims to global superiority directly enshrined in US documents; US forces, including aircraft, have been deployed to the borders of the Russian Federation;
The myth of the invulnerability of Western military equipment has collapsed;
Supply of armored vehicles to Russian army has tripled in 2023;
The strategic forces' aviation supply is being modernized. Four Tu-160m missile carriers have been received;
Modern weaponry accounts for 95% of Russia's nuclear triad (the nuclear triad consists of land-launched nuclear missiles + nuclear-missile-armed submarines + strategic aircraft with nuclear bombs);
15 Yars and Avangard ICBM launcherswill be delivered by end of this year.
Russia's Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also shared latest updates on the course of the special military operation in Ukraine:
Ukraine has lost up to than 383,000 both killed and wounded since launch of special military operation;
Since June 4, 159,000 military personnel killed & wounded, 121 aircraft, 23 helicopters, 766 tanks, including 37 Leopard, 2348 armored vehicles of various classes, of which 50 Bradley — all destroyed;
Most mercenaries fighting in Ukraine eliminated: over 5,800 militants killed, including 1,427 from Poland, 466 from the US & 344 from the UK;
Russian air defense shot down 1,062 NATO missiles for MLRS, operational-tactical and cruise missiles, and guided aerial bombs over 6 months.
