Following an incident on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 attack, the CISF will provide security to Parliament, while the Delhi Police will provide external security.
Days after the security breach at Parliament on 13 December, both the new and old Parliament complexes and their adjoining buildings will be guarded by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which will also include the existing elements of the Parliament Security Service (PSS), the Parliament Duty Group (PDG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The Delhi Police will continue to guard the outer perimeter of Parliament and security within the complex will be the responsibility of the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
The change in security also came after two men sprayed yellow smoke in the Lower House of Parliament on 13 December, the two also jumped from the visitors' lobby to the MPs' lobby. They hid the smoke canister in their shoes. Although no injuries were reported, the incident raised questions about security breaches.
