India took two major steps concerning its overall security after its Parliament was attacked by terrorists on December 13, 2001, a New Delhi-based strategic affair analyst, Qamar Agha told Sputnik India.The analyst also said that the attack on Indian Parliament was seen differently by everyone concerned as it was a direct hit at India's temple of democracy.Agha further said in order to contain the cross border terror, the government of the day suspended the ongoing confidence building measures with Pakistan and decided to deploy more troops on the border.On December 13, 2001, five terrorists entered India's Parliament House Complex at around 11:30 am in a car with a fake parliamentary entry pass and started firing indiscriminately as they were stopped for a security check by the security personnel present there. According to media reports, the terrorists were killed in the retaliatory firing by security forces that lasted about half an hour.Meanwhile today, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Indian leaders from different political parties pay tribute the fallen security personnel and others in the incident 22 years ago, another security breach was reported from the same complex, triggering a major scare. Two men stormed the Lok Sabha during the winter session of Parliament with gas-emitting objects, as reported by Indian media. They were immediately taken into custody and taken away.Outside the Indian Parliament, Delhi Police also arrested a man and a woman who were chanting slogans and throwing yellow and pink coloured spray in the air.

The Indian Parliament was targeted in 2001, after which heightened security arrangements on all important establishments and the Pakistan border were implemented.

Qamar Agha told Sputnik India.
The analyst also said that the attack on Indian Parliament was seen differently by everyone concerned as it was a direct hit at India's temple of democracy.
"India had been experiencing terror attacks in different parts of the country for a long time and the security agencies continued doing their best to secure the country's interests but the Parliament attack of 2001 changed almost everything as far as handling of terror and maintaining relations with Pakistan was concerned," he said.
Agha further said in order to contain the
cross border terror, the government of the day
suspended the ongoing confidence building measures with Pakistan and decided to deploy more troops on the border.
"The incident of the Parliament attack shook everyone alike and the very first thing that the government did was that it secured all important government buildings, establishments like the Supreme Court of India, Parliament House and other important institutes across the nation by deploying more security forces. Also, it deployed more security personnel to safeguard the country's border with Pakistan," he said.
