Due to concerns about a 'possible terrorist attack' against Israelis, official Tel Aviv has advised its citizens to avoid visiting crowded places or places that cater to Westerners/Jews and Israelis across India.
Israel's National Security Council has issued a travel advisory for its residents in India, as it suspects that Tuesday's explosion near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi was "a possible terrorist attack".
Tuesday night's blast in New Delhi's diplomatic quarter of Chanakyapuri was close to the Israeli embassy, but no one was injured.

A spokesman for the Israeli embassy, Guy Nir, told the media that there had been an explosion near the embassy at around 5:48 p.m. Security personnel and the Delhi police were still investigating the matter. The suggestions made by Israel's National Security Council (NSC) on Tuesday are of particular concern to New Delhi, based on fears of a "recurrence of events".

Israeli citizens have been warned to try to avoid crowded areas (markets and shopping centres) and places marked as serving both Israelis and Westerners. They have also been asked to be extra vigilant in public areas such as restaurants, accommodation, bars, etc.

The guidelines also advise against publicly displaying Israeli symbols, staying away from unsafe mass gatherings, and posting itineraries, photos and visit details in real time on social media.

"The incident is being investigated by the local authorities in full cooperation with the Israeli security forces," the ministry reported.

The blast occurred in a green belt area outside the Central Hindi Training Institute, close to the embassy. Teams from the Fire Service, Bomb Disposal Squad and Special Cell of the Delhi Police rushed to the scene soon after. Searches in the area continued for over three hours.

Indian officials told the media that security around the embassy and other Israeli facilities had been tightened following the incident.
In light of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and the rise in anti-Semitism worldwide, the NSC earlier this month warned Israelis to reconsider all international travel and urged them to avoid outward displays of their Jewish and Israeli identity.
