Every year, India celebrates its Republic Day on January 26 to mark the adoption of the country's constitution, which came into being in 1950, three years after gaining independence from the British in 1947.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday wished Indian President Draupadi Murmu and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of the South Asian country's Republic Day.
In his congratulatory note to Murmu and Modi, Putin emphasized that India's global stature was rising and New Delhi was actively involved in finding resolutions to key issues.

"Dear Madam President, dear Mr. Prime Minister, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the national holiday - Republic Day," a statement from the Kremlin released on behalf of Putin on Telegram said. "India has achieved impressive successes in the socio-economic, scientific, technical, and other fields, enjoys well-deserved authority on the world stage, and is actively involved in solving the most important issues on the international agenda."

Also, the Russian leader underlined that Moscow and New Delhi will continue to cooperate on both bilateral and global issues.
It is worth noting that despite being under intense Western pressure, Russia-India ties have stood the test of time, with both sovereign states engaged in a number of projects, including in the field of defense.
