LCA Tejas Set to Get New Wings With Latest Digital Flight Control Computer
14:18 04.02.2024 (Updated: 14:26 04.02.2024) LCA Tejas is gaining more strength with the incorporation of modern technology as the Indian Air Force (IAF) is focused on making it a symbol of the nation's indigenous manufacturing prowess.
India's homegrown fighter jet,
LCA Tejas, is set to appear in a new avatar after being equipped with the latest state-of-the-art
Digital Flight Control Computer (DFCC).
According to aviation watcher Anantha Krishnan M, who closely tracks developments in India's defense sector, Tejas' current DFCC is based on an Intel microchip that has already touched its maximum
limits for upgrades.
Besides having a brand new flight computer, the LCA Tejas' latest variant MK1A will be equipped with an advanced "electronic warfare suite" and AESA Radar.
LCA Tejas is India's first and only indigenous frontline fighter aircraft, which is set to form the bulwark of the IAF's combat jet fleet in the next few years.
Furthermore, with the IAF dealing with a rapidly depleting squadron strength, the South Asian country's sky guarding force is pushing Tejas' manufacturers, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), to equip the warplane with the most advanced technology.
Last year, India's Chief of Air Staff Vivek Ram Chaudhari revealed that the IAF was down to 31 squadrons against the sanctioned strength of 42.
