The Indian Air Force (IAF) announced on Saturday that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed an agreement with an Indian military equipment manufacturer to upgrade the simulators of its fleet of Su-30MKI fighter jets.Currently, the Su-30MKI warplanes serve as the cornerstone of the Indian Air Force's (IAF) combat aircraft fleet and are poised for a significant modernization effort in the coming years. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is at the forefront of the Su-30MKI upgrade program, which aims to provide a significant boost by incorporating the latest avionics, a new mission computer, and a wide range of domestically developed weapons systems. These will include the extended-range variant of the BrahMos missile. The total cost of the Su-30MKI overhaul initiative has been estimated at $3.6 billion. This modernisation effort is expected to not only extend the service life of these aircraft, but also enhance their combat capabilities, making them more formidable against potential adversaries.

India's MoD Signs Contract to Upgrade Simulators of IAF's Su-30MKI Fleet
India has more than 260 Russian-made Su-30MKI aircraft in its Air Force, with 12 more to be acquired in the coming years from state-owned aviation giant Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The Indian Air Force (IAF) announced on Saturday that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed an agreement with an Indian military equipment manufacturer to upgrade the simulators of its fleet of Su-30MKI fighter jets.
"On the steady path to Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), the MoD signed a contract with an Indian manufacturer on 1 March 24 for upgrading the simulator of IAF's Su-30 MKI aircraft. Led by MSME (Micro Small & Medium Enterprises), this upgrade will incorporate all indigenous weapons and capabilities to enhance the operational training of IAF pilots," the IAF statement claimed.
