India's defence chief Rajnath Singh marked the festival of Holi on Sunday by joining soldiers in Leh and praised Delhi's efforts to take care of its soldiers.Addressing the soldiers and senior defence officials present in Leh, the minister emphasized the significance of Ladakh as a bastion of bravery and valour.During the event, Singh proposed a new tradition to Army Chief Manoj Pande, suggesting that the air and navy chiefs initiate celebrations alongside soldiers and armed forces personnel stationed at the frontiers on the eve of each festivity, claiming that the gesture would honour those safeguarding the nation's sovereignty amidst significant challenges.He remarked that whether stationed amidst the snowy heights of Kargil, the sweltering deserts and plains of Rajasthan, or within a submarine navigating the deep sea, the armed forces remain vigilant and responsive to any external dangers.

20:23 24.03.2024 (Updated: 20:27 24.03.2024) Singh had intended to visit the Siachen area to commemorate the festival of Holi but had to cancel his trip due to poor weather. He assured the soldiers he would reschedule his trip at the earliest opportunity.
India's defence chief Rajnath Singh marked the festival of Holi on Sunday by joining soldiers in Leh and praised Delhi's efforts to take care of its soldiers.
Addressing the soldiers and senior defence officials present in Leh, the minister emphasized the significance of Ladakh as a bastion of bravery and valour.
“I have said it many times before and will say it again: it is our duty to take care of you, your children, your parents...your family. We are always ready for that. I do not need to tell you here that with the same diligence with which you are working for this country by dedicating your body and mind, our government is also working for the betterment of our armed forces," he noted.
