Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar shed light on India's unwavering stance against terrorism, emphasised the paramount importance of security and delved into various pertinent matters.
India's External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, expressed a powerful stance on India's fight against terrorism, assuring its citizens that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India will not let history repeat itself with another attack like the devastating Mumbai 26/11 (26 November 2008) terror attacks.
"India used to suffer from terrorism originating from across the border. However, what happened in Mumbai on 26/11 (November 26) will never happen again in this country under PM Modi’s regime," Jaishankar emphasized during a media briefing in Bikaner city, Rajasthan state.
"Whenever we have faced terror attacks from across the border, we have strongly responded with URI surgical strike (2016) or Balakot airstrike (2019)," he added.
Jaishankar further emphasized that whenever the neighboring armies attempted to exert any pressure on India, they unwaveringly supported the Indian army, who valiantly defended the nation, even in harsh weather conditions and amidst a global pandemic.
He added that PM Modi has not only maintained a tight grip on terrorism and strengthened border security measures but has also come to the rescue of Indian citizens struck abroad.
He stated that over the last 10 years, PM Modi has consistently delivered on his promises and ensured the welfare of the people of India through numerous initiatives and campaigns. Whether it be in the areas of water, electricity, roads, bank loans, access to vaccines during the pandemic, or the provision of rations.
"Our citizens firmly believe in PM Modi's guarantee that the government will always stand by them. We are confident that we will receive extensive support from all across India during the election," Jaishankar said.
