During the parade, the INS Tabar was part of the fleet inspected by Russian President Vladimir Putin, underscoring the strong bonds between the two countries’ naval forces.
The Indian Navy’s INS Tabar stealth frigate participated in the Russian Navy Day celebrations in St. Petersburg on Sunday, having previously taken part in events such as the Main Naval Parade on July 25, 2021, marking the 325th anniversary of the Russian Navy.

The INS Tabar, an advanced Talwar-class frigate derived from the Russian Krivak III frigates sold to India in 1997, was designed by the Baltic Shipyard and commissioned into the Indian Navy in 2004, featuring upgraded capabilities.

Russia is commemorating Navy Day in St. Petersburg with an impressive parade showcasing more than 200 ships of diverse classes and over 100 pieces of combat equipment.

The celebration, observed on the last Sunday of July every year, includes participation of sailors from the Northern, Pacific, Baltic, and Caspian Fleets, as well as personnel from the Russian naval base in Syria.

Traditionally, the Russian leader reviews naval parades on Russia’s Navy Day on board a presidential review boat on the Neva River, where he congratulates sailors of the Russian Navy at the start of the event.
This year, Russia’s Main Naval Parade on the Neva River includes 20 surface ships and gunboats, four sailing vessels, and a submarine.
