At least 112 people have died and 68 have gone missing as a result of devastating floods in Nepal, caused by the strongest rains in 54 years, Nepalese newspaper The Kathmandu Post reported on Sunday, citing the the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force. The floods and landslides have disrupted many highways and roads across the country, leaving hundreds of houses and bridges buried or swept away and displacing hundreds of families, the newspaper reported, adding that thousands of passengers were stuck in different places due to road disruption. The authorities are continuing search and rescue operations, which involve over 20,000 security service officers across the country, saying there might be more victims in the regions affected by the disaster. On Saturday, the country's Hydrology and Meteorology Department said Kathmandu Valley received 240 millimeters of rain in 24 hours which was the highest rainfall recorded in the capital since 1970.
