"On October 31, Thailand received an official invitation to become a BRICS partner from Russia, the BRICS chairman in 2024. A cabinet meeting was held on December 24, at which it was decided that Thailand would give a positive response to this invitation," the spokesman told reporters, adding that the Thai Foreign Minister has already sent a letter to the Russian Foreign Minister expressing Thailand's agreement to join BRICS as a partner country.As a BRICS partner country, Thailand hopes to increase the level of relations with BRICS members in order to improve the development opportunities of Thailand's own economy, as the BRICS countries are at a high level of economic development and have high potential in trade, investment and tourism, the official explained.

BANGKOK (Sputnik) - Thailand accepts BRICS invitation to join as a partner country with the hope of joining the association as a full member in the future, Thai Foreign Ministry spokesman Nikorndej Balankura said on Thursday.
"On October 31, Thailand received an official invitation to become a BRICS partner from Russia, the BRICS chairman in 2024. A cabinet meeting was held on December 24, at which it was decided that Thailand would give a positive response to this invitation," the spokesman told reporters, adding that the Thai Foreign Minister has already sent a letter to the Russian Foreign Minister expressing Thailand's agreement to join BRICS as a partner country.
