Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the world has seen the might of the country's indigenous weapons, including the BrahMos missile, during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, the nation's counter-terrorism mission to avenge the heinous Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 26 innocent civilians were brutally shot at point blank range in Kashmir. He stressed that the BrahMos, widely acclaimed as the fastest supersonic missile in the world, proved to be highly effective against Pakistani air defences as they failed to intercept it, has a new home in Uttar Pradesh. For the unversed, a new BrahMos production unit was inaugurated in the state capital, Lucknow, earlier this month. While the Uttar Pradesh government hasn't commented on the nature of BrahMos missiles that will be manufactured at the Lucknow plant, reports suggest that BrahMos-NG, a lighter variant of the projectile, is set to become the main weapon of India's homegrown fighter jet, LCA Tejas, which will be produced in Lucknow.

BrahMos Finds New Home in Uttar Pradesh: PM Modi
Indian Armed Forces carried out precision strikes on at least 11 Pakistani military bases, including in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with the BrahMos supersonic missile being used to inflict heavy damage at runways, radar sites, and aircraft hangars, during Operation Sindoor earlier this month.
Indian Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on Friday said that the world has seen the might of the country's indigenous weapons, including the BrahMos missile, during
Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, the nation's counter-terrorism mission to avenge the heinous
Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 26 innocent civilians were brutally
shot at point blank range in Kashmir.
"The world has seen the power of Make in India and our indigenous weapons during Operation Sindoor. Our BrahMos missile entered enemy territory and caused destruction exactly where the targets were marked," Modi said during his public rally in Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh.
While the Uttar Pradesh government hasn't commented on the nature of BrahMos missiles that will be manufactured at the Lucknow plant, reports suggest that BrahMos-NG,
a lighter variant of the projectile, is set to become the main weapon of India's homegrown fighter jet, LCA Tejas, which will be produced in Lucknow.
"It is a matter of pride for Uttar Pradesh that it is at the forefront of defence production, with India's largest defence corridor currently under construction in the state. Numerous major defence companies are investing in Uttar Pradesh. In the future, Kanpur and Uttar Pradesh will be leaders in India's defence exports," he added.
