MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Russia and Iran officially went into effect on Thursday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"On October 2, the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and Iran, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Moscow on January 17, 2025, officially goes into effect," the ministry said in a statement.
This event marks an important milestone in the history of Russian-Iranian interstate relations, which have reached a qualitatively new level of comprehensive strategic partnership, the statement read.
