India will continue to be the planet's fastest-growing large economy by a wide margin, Aurelien Kruse, Lead Economist of the World Bank, said on Wednesday.Notably, India's Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran recently said that India is on course to achieve a growth rate of 6.8% this fiscal year.Nageswaran's prediction came in the wake of a strong first-quarter performance in FY25-26, when the Indian economy grew by 7.8%, surpassing financial experts’ expectations.

India To Remain Growth Leader Among Large Economies, World Bank Predicts
India has consistently recorded a growth rate of over 6% for the last couple of years, and in the process has become the world's fourth-largest economy.
India will continue to be the planet's fastest-growing large economy by a wide margin, Aurelien Kruse, Lead Economist of the World Bank, said on Wednesday.
"The World Bank, like the IMF, are very consistent in their forecast that India remains, and by a wide margin, the fastest-growing large economy in the world. We forecast that India will grow anywhere between 6.3 and 7% over the foreseeable future," he said. "There's no reason for India to grow significantly below 6% just because it is such a dynamic economy," Kruse added.
Notably, India's Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran recently said that India is on course
to achieve a growth rate of 6.8% this fiscal year.
"Now, I think there is a lot of comfort in saying it will definitely be to the north of 6.5% and I am more comfortable saying even north of 6.8%," Nageswaran underscored during his address at a business event earlier this month.
Nageswaran's prediction came in the wake of a strong first-quarter performance in FY25-26, when the Indian economy grew by 7.8%, surpassing financial experts’ expectations.
