India and Russia on Thursday reaffirmed their “time-tested” and strategic defence partnership during the 22nd Inter-Governmental Commission on Military & Military Technical Cooperation held in New Delhi.Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov shared that bilateral defence ties remain strong despite global geopolitical uncertainty.He added that our India-Russia defence cooperation is moving at a healthy pace.“The outcome-oriented exchanges between our Armed Forces personnel and experts have maintained the momentum of our defence partnership."Singh also highlighted President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, stating, “We were eagerly awaiting His Excellency’s visit. I believe this Leaders’ Summit will further strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between our two countries.”Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov echoed the sentiment, describing the bond between India and Russia as enduring and respectful.“Our countries are tied with a solid, time-proven friendship based on mutual respect…We are bound by very deep traditions which are typical of the Russian and Indian nations,” Belousov said.He emphasised the strategic value of India-Russia defence ties, noting, “Our partnership with India is a key factor for balance in the South Asian region and global security.”He also highlighted Russia’s role in India’s military modernisation.Both ministers agreed to set new goals for military and technical cooperation, underlining continuity in a partnership that has defined India–Russia relations for decades.

16:38 04.12.2025 (Updated: 12:38 05.12.2025) Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov are going to take defence partnership to the next level with new goals for military and technical cooperation that have defined India–Russia relations for decades.
India and Russia on Thursday reaffirmed their “time-tested” and strategic defence partnership during the 22nd Inter-Governmental Commission on Military & Military Technical Cooperation held in New Delhi.
Indian Defence Minister
Rajnath Singh and his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov shared that bilateral defence ties remain strong despite global geopolitical uncertainty.
“Russia is a time-tested, special privileged and strategic partner of India, and our defence cooperation has grown significantly since the signing of the Declaration of the India-Russia Strategic Partnership in 2000,” Singh said.
He added that our

“The outcome-oriented exchanges between our Armed Forces personnel and experts have maintained the momentum of our defence partnership."
Singh also highlighted
