21st Century Conflicts Are Battles of Ideology: MoD
17:57 18.12.2025 (Updated: 17:59 18.12.2025) Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday underscored that 21st-century warfare was different from previous eras, emphasising that air power was a decisive player in today's times.
The veteran government official stated that present-day wars were not a war of weapons but a war of "ideas, technology, and adaptability."
"Cyber warfare, Artificial Intelligence, unmanned aerial vehicles, satellite-based surveillance, and space-enabled capabilities are fundamentally changing the future of warfare. Precision-guided weapons, real-time intelligence, and data-driven decision-making are no longer optional; they have become basic requirements for success in modern conflicts. Those nations which master the trinity of technology, strategic vision, and adaptability will move towards global leadership," Singh stated during his address at the Air Force Commanders' Conclave in New Delhi.
Hailing the Indian Air Force (IAF) for its splendid execution of Operation Sindoor earlier this year, Singh asserted that India's air warriors were among the best in the world.
"IAF is a technologically advanced, operationally agile, strategically confident & future-oriented force, safeguarding national interests in today's times," the Defence Minister noted.
The IAF conducted successful air strikes during Operation Sindoor in May 2025, which was carried out to
avenge the dastardly killings of 26 tourists in Pahalgam on April 22.
During this air campaign BrahMos missile featured primarily as a strategic deterrence and readiness element rather than as a publicly confirmed strike asset. BrahMos represents a key component of India’s conventional precision-strike capability, designed for rapid response, high accuracy, and penetration of advanced air-defense systems.
