Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued his first statement, saying that US military bases in the region must be shut down or attacks will continue. The statement was read out by a television presenter.
The war has now entered its second week, resulting in thousands of deaths. However, statements by leaders in Iran, Israel and the United States indicate that the conflict is still far from subsiding.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the "44th wave" of attacks, targeting northern Israeli cities including Kiryat Shmona, Hadera and Haifa. At the same time, major strikes were also carried out against the US Fifth Fleet stationed in Bahrain and other American military bases in the region.
Meanwhile, in an effort to stabilize global oil prices, the US Treasury issued a 30-day waiver starting March 12, allowing the sale of Russian crude oil and petroleum products loaded on ships.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that a KC-135 Stratotanker crashed in western Iraq during operations against Iran, while the second aircraft involved in the mission landed safely.
Additionally, six French soldiers were injured in a drone attack on a joint military base in Iraq.
