Iran is in constant contact with Russia and China regarding the conflict around Iran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said on Monday.
"We are in constant contact with Russia and China. It would benefit the entire international community if the United States and Israel are called to account for their treachery, which has had enormous consequences. Holding them accountable is possible both within the UN Security Council and within BRICS and the SCO," Baghaei said during a briefing broadcast by Iranian media.
The US Navy began a blockade of all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports on both sides of the Strait of Hormuz on April 13. The strait accounts for approximately 20% of global oil, petroleum product, and LNG shipments. Washington has assured that non-Iranian vessels can freely transit the strait as long as they have not paid Tehran for passage. Iranian authorities have not announced any fees but have discussed such plans.
