The India-Africa summit, previously set for late May, has been postponed due to the prevailing epidemiological situation on the African continent, the Indian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
The summit was originally set to take place in New Delhi from May 28 to 31. However, consultations were held between India and African nations, during which the sides reviewed the sanitary and epidemiological conditions in certain parts of the African continent, the ministry said.

"Following these consultations, the two sides agreed that it would be advisable to convene the Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit at a later date," the ministry said in a statement.
New dates for the summit and associated meetings will be determined through further mutual consultations and made public at a later stage, it added.

"India reaffirmed its solidarity with the peoples and Governments of Africa and expressed its readiness to contribute to Africa CDC-led [Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention] efforts aimed at addressing the evolving health situation, in line with the shared commitment to an Africa-led response," the statement read.
Last week, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda an emergency and a threat to other states. According to the latest data from Congolese authorities, 131 deaths from the virus have been recorded in the country. The previous Ebola outbreak in the DRC ended in October 2025.
