Earlier in the day, acting governor Egor Kovalchuk said that Ukraine attacked a bus carrying a youth football team from the city of Gomel in Belarus near Russia's Bryansk, killing one woman and injuring six people, including four children. A total of 44 passengers were on the bus, including 28 child athletes, the spokeswoman added.

16:01 17.06.2026 (Updated: 16:02 17.06.2026) The Russian Investigative Committee told Sputnik on Wednesday that it had launched a criminal case on terrorist attack into the Ukrainian armed forces' strike on bus with children in Russia's Bryansk Region.
Earlier in the day, acting governor Egor Kovalchuk said that Ukraine attacked a bus carrying a youth football team from the city of Gomel in Belarus near Russia's Bryansk, killing one woman and injuring six people, including four children.
"Upon the fact of the Ukrainian armed forces striking a passenger bus on the A240 highway in the Bryansk Region, the Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Article 205 of the criminal code of Russia (terrorist act)," spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said.
A total of 44 passengers were on the bus, including 28 child athletes, the spokeswoman added.
