23:13 15.07.2026 (Updated: 23:25 15.07.2026) Zaporozhye NPP chief engineer Alexander Yakovlev and his driver were killed when a Ukrainian drone struck their official vehicle in a targeted terrorist attack, Rosatom chief Alexey Likhachev said on Wednesday.
"A Ukrainian armed forces drone struck a Toyota Camry service vehicle at the border of the plant's industrial site and the city of Enerhodar [Enerhodar]. The driver, Dmitry Filippov, was killed along with the chief engineer, Alexander Yakovlev," Likhachev told reporters.
Russia expects a prompt, concrete, and clear response from the International Atomic Energy Agency to the tragedy, Likhachev said, adding that Russia's political leadership was informed about the attack.
