India Enhances Energy Security Despite Global Turmoil: Energy Minister
A diversified supply strategy and coordinated policy measures helped the country successfully safeguard its energy security during recent global disruptions, Union minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a meeting of the Energy Ministry's advisory committee, Puri said India expanded its energy imports from 27 to 41 countries, helping reduce supply risks amid geopolitical tensions and volatile global energy markets.
According to the minister, the government also prioritised the supply of LPG and LNG to households and essential sectors, while maintaining close coordination with oil marketing companies to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability.
Puri went on to say that India maintained adequate fuel stocks and avoided shortages despite global supply disruptions, adding that consumers were largely protected from the sharp fluctuations in international energy prices.
He credited the measures with strengthening the country's
energy security and ensuring stable fuel supplies at a time when many nations faced shortages and rising energy costs.
